Sri Lanka Association for Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) acts as a catalyst of growth of the Sri Lankan IT and BPM industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encouragement of research and innovation, and by supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework.

What is SLASSCOM TechKids?

SLASSCOM TechKids is a nationwide network of volunteers who run free coding clubs for young people (ages 6-15) in collaboration with Code Club International and ICT Norway.

There are already over 10,000 Code Clubs across the world functioning through Code Club International in collaboration with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, inspiring the next generation on the areas of computing and digital making.

How does a TechKids club work?

SLASSCOM TechKids provides step-by-step activity sheets for children to follow. Using these, the children create fun games, animations, and websites while learning the key concepts of programming at the same time. You will help us to set up the classes and assist the kids.

What do the children learn?

The SLASSCOM TechKids Club has resources to teach children to code in Scratch and MicroBits. Learning to code is more than a vocational skill—it changes the way children analyse and solve problems and encourages creative thinking and collaboration.

How can you help?

We need your help to run the club. You don’t need to be an IT professional to volunteer, you just need to be willing to learn some basic Scratch & MicroBit programming among other technologies before you start helping out.
